Cancellation and Refund Policy

Last updated: 2026-04-26

Brightbrief is a monthly business-to-business software-as-a-service subscription. This policy explains how to cancel a subscription, when you may receive a refund, and how refunds are processed. All Brightbrief subscriptions are billed by Paddle, our payment processor and merchant of record.

1. Free trial

Every new account starts with a 14-day free trial. No payment method is required during the trial, and trials do not auto-convert to a paid plan. If you do not subscribe before the trial ends, your account becomes inactive and stops receiving briefings.

2. Cancelling a paid subscription

You can cancel at any time from brightbrief.app/settings/billing, which links to the billing portal operated by Paddle. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain full access until that date. We do not pro-rate refunds for partial months.

3. EU and UK consumer right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal from the date you first subscribe to a paid plan. To exercise this right, email legal@avackmedia.com within 14 days of your first paid charge with the subject line "Withdrawal". We will arrange a refund of that first charge through Paddle.

By starting to use a paid plan during the 14-day window, you acknowledge that the digital service is being supplied immediately, and that the right of withdrawal is reduced to the portion of the service not yet consumed, per Article 16(m) of EU Directive 2011/83/EU.

4. Refunds for service issues

If a sustained outage or material defect prevents Brightbrief from delivering the service you paid for, we may issue a pro-rated refund or service credit at our discretion. Email legal@avackmedia.com with a description of the issue and the dates affected. We aim to respond within two business days.

5. How refunds are processed

Approved refunds are processed by Paddle, the merchant of record for all Brightbrief subscriptions. Refunds appear on the original payment method within 5-10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer. Refunds in currencies other than EUR may be subject to a small currency conversion difference imposed by Paddle.

6. What is not refundable

Except where required by law, the following are not refundable:

  • Subscription fees for billing periods that have already elapsed.
  • Partial-month refunds for cancellations made mid-period; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period.
  • Periods during which the service was actively used (briefings were generated and delivered), except where overridden by statutory consumer rights such as the EU/UK 14-day right of withdrawal.
  • Inactive paid accounts where the customer chose not to use the service during a paid period.

7. Cancellation is not deletion

Cancelling your paid subscription does not automatically delete your account or your stored data. To request account deletion, use brightbrief.app/settings/account; deletions enter a 30-day grace period and are then permanent. Account deletion does not entitle you to a refund of fees already paid for prior billing periods.
